CASE STUDY: Behind the Paycheck - An Experimental Journey into Siemens Energy's Compensation Processes

Siemens Energy is determined to offer all our employees fair and equal compensation. In this session, we will present our holistic analytical approach to identify, assess, and implement evidence-based measures which improve our compensation instruments and processes. We will particularly report the outcome of a large-scale field experiment with almost 20,000 employees and managers, developed together with our research partner, the University of Goettingen, in which we analyzed how we can best support managers in their pay decisions.

In this presentation you will learn:

  • What drives pay satisfaction of employees?
  • What is the effect of providing managers with tailored information when making their pay allocation decisions – including gender pay gap and market benchmarks
  • Does this effect apply equally to female and male managers?
  • How can we integrate these findings into our regular compensation processes?
